Event: The
2nd annual Can Do Arts sale comes to a close with a celebration at the new,
Liberty Street Bistro 320. This will be a special night for the Can Do Kids.
Community members are invited to enjoy free appetizers and drinks, while
viewing the Kids’ best works of art. A number of local businesses have
taken part in the Can Do Arts sale throughout April. More than 70 pieces
of artwork completed by 3rd and 4th graders at Peoria’s Irving Primary
School will be sold to help raise money for the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund.
The kids are studying the artwork of Picasso, Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe,
etc.
Date: April 22nd at Liberty Street Bistro 320, Peoria,
IL, 430-730pm
Time: Business hours at participating businesses
Businesses: Over 70 pieces of artwork have been on display
and will be sold in April at Baurer Furniture, AAA Motor Club, CEFCU,
Peoria Banking Center, Finish Line Ford, Green Chevrolet, Jim Macomb
Chevy, Carol’s Flower Shop, and Morton’s Upscale Resale and
The Cutting Edge.
Goal: The goal of the Can Do Arts sale is to raise funds
for the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund, as well as developing a Can Do
attitude with these kids. By finishing their artwork in school, it helps
increase their self esteem and discipline in art class as well as they
are a part of the funding mechanism for the $1,000 Can Do Scholarships
they’ll be awarded when they graduate from high school and transition
to post secondary institutions. 100% of the contributions will benefit
the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund.
Mission: The Mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship
Fund is to encourage a "Can Do" attitude within Irving fourth
graders to stay focused on graduating from high school so they can attend
college or a technical training institution. The ultimate goal for the "Can
Do Kids" is to graduate with job skills so that they may become
positive, driving forces within their families and community.
