Young Peoria Artists Show Off
What They “Can Do”

Event: The Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund’s Can Do Arts sale features more than 70 pieces of artwork completed by 3rd and 4th graders at Peoria’s Irving Primary School. The kids are studying the works of Picasso, Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe, Grandma Moses and others, and now, they’re showing off their own masterpieces.

Date: The week of April 17-23, 2005 at Peoria area businesses

Time: Business hours at participating businesses

Businesses: Lindsay’s on Liberty, Baurer Furniture, AAA Motor Club, CEFCU, Peoria Banking Center, Finish Line Ford, Green Chevrolet, Jim MaComb Chevrolet, Riverside Community Church, The Cutting Edge, Upscale Resale and others.

Goal: The goal of the Can Do Arts sale is to raise funds for the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund, but just as important, it helps kids develop a Can Do attitude. Not only does taking part in special art classes help develop their self esteem and discipline, they are able to see and reap financial benefits. The event is part of the funding mechanism for the $1,000 scholarships that they’ll be awarded when they graduate from high school and transition to post secondary institutions. 100% of the contributions benefit the Can Do scholarships.

Mission: The mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund is to instill a "Can Do" attitude in Irving fourth graders to stay focused on graduating from high school so they can attend college or a technical training institution. The hope is that the "Can Do Kids" will graduate with job skills so that they may become positive, driving forces within their families and community.
