The 6th Annual Can Do Walk & 5K
Raises over $16,200, exceeding $48,000 in last 3 years
Results: The 6th annual Can Do Walk & 5K raised more than $16,200 in funds for the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund, through sponsorships and personal contributions. In the last 3 years, the event has raised $48,000.
Eight more people signed up to become mentors for the Can Do students. The new mentoring role has been set up to help guide the Can Do students as they get through high school.
Event:The Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund’s Can Do Walk & 5K is the main fundraiser for the $1,000 Can Do Scholarships that Irving School fourth graders will be awarded when they graduate from high school and transition to post secondary institutions. These include colleges, universities, junior colleges, technical training, etc. Nearly 400 Irving students have received the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship promise, due to generous contributions over the last four school years. The first class of students is now in their sophomore year of high school. In total, the fund has raised more than $200,000.
Mission: The mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund is to instill a "Can Do" attitude in Irving School (Peoria, IL) fourth graders so that they stay focused on graduating from high school and attend college or a technical training institution. The hope is that the "Can Do Kids" will graduate with job skills so that they may become positive, driving forces within their families and community.

Because the Founder has agreed to pay 100% of the expenses, over 98% of the contributions go directly to the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund.
