The 3rd Annual Can Do Walk & 5K raises $16,000


Event: Over $16,000 was raised on Aug. 27, 2005, at the 3rd annual Can Do Walk and 5K at Peoria Height’s lovely Grandview Drive. This event is the main fundraiser for the unique Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund, which provides a $1,000 scholarship promise to every Irving Primary School fourth grader. The students will be awarded the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship when they graduate from high school and transition to post secondary institutions. Over 180 Irving students have received the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship promise, due to generous contributions over the last three school years. The first class of students is now entering seventh grade in the fall of 2005. And this year’s Walk & 5K raised $16,000, which will help start funding scholarships for the 60 students in the 2005-2006 fourth grade class at Irving School.

Over 30 runners participated in the 5K run, with the fastest time of 16:48, by Doug Richards. The fastest female was…., who completed to lovely Grandview Drive course in …...


Mission:The mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund is to instill a "Can Do" attitude in Irving School (Peoria, IL) fourth graders, so they stay focused on graduating from high school and attending college or a technical training institution. The hope is that the "Can Do Kids" will graduate with job skills so that they may become positive, driving forces within their families and community.
