The 3^rd Annual Can Do Walk also features 5K run

Event: The Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund’s two mile Can Do Walk will also feature a 5K run in it’s 3rd annual event on Peoria’s lovely Grandview Drive. This event is the main fundraiser for the $1,000 Can Do Scholarships that Irving School fourth graders will be awarded when they graduate from high school and transition to post secondary institutions. Over 180 Irving students have received the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship promise, due to generous contributions over the last three school years. The first class of students is now entering seventh grade in the fall of 2005.

Registration: Walkers and runners can register on August 27th at the event on Grandview Drive. Registration forms are available at many Peoria area businesses starting July 10; registration is $25 per person, $50 for a family. All contributions are welcome! All on-line registrations will receive free Can Do t-shirts. Door prizes will be raffled, and the remaining pieces of the Can Do Kids’ artwork will also be for sale. Fun prizes & unique awards for the 5K include: best dressed, fastest couple, and fastest by age ranges.

Goal: The goal of the 3rd annual Can Do Walk & Run is to raise at least $30,000 in funds for the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund, through sponsorships and personal contributions. The Founder has agreed to pay 100% of the expenses so that 100% of the contributions can go to the Can Do Scholarship Fund.

Mission: The mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund is to instill a "Can Do" attitude in Irving School (Peoria, IL) fourth graders to stay focused on graduating from high school so they can attend college or a technical training institution. The hope is that the "Can Do Kids" will graduate with job skills so that they may become positive, driving forces within their families and community.
