Indiana University for a week on campus
Event: Five
Woodruff High School students are headed to Indiana University for a week
on campus June 13-17, 2005. The founder of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship
Fund, in collaboration with Indiana University’s Kelley School of
Business and School of Infomatics, and Peoria’s District 150, is
pleased to announce that 5 Woodruff High School students will be attending
Indiana University in Bloomington, IN for a free, week on campus to learn
more about the college experience, campus, typical school work/projects,
other prospective students, and dorm life.
Date: June
13-17, 2005
Place: Indiana
University, Bloomington, IN
Goal: The
goal of this second annual collaboration with I.U., District 150, and Can
Do is to provide Woodruff H.S. students the opportunity to experience college,
PRIOR to graduating from high school. The future goal is for every student
that has received the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship promise to receive a free
week on campus, to reinforce the importance of graduating from high school
as well as demonstrating to the students that college and/or technical
training are achievable. This is also a way to stay connected with the
Can Do Kids, as they progress through high school.
Mission: The mission of the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship
Fund is to instill a "Can Do" attitude in Irving School (Peoria,
IL) fourth graders to stay focused on graduating from high school so
they can attend college or a technical training institution. The hope
is that the "Can Do Kids" will graduate with job skills so
that they may become positive, driving forces within their families and
community. Over 180 students from Irving School the last three years
have received the $1,000 Can Do Scholarship promise.
